Tunisha Sharma Suicide Case: Bombay High Court Rejects Actor Sheezan Khan's Plea Asking To Quash FIR Against Him
The Bombay High Court has rejected the plea of TV actor Sheezan Khan, who was arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of his co-star Tunisha Sharma. Khan sought to quash the FIR against him in connection with Sharma's tragic death, who was found dead on the set of a Hindi serial near Vasai last year. The court, presided over by Justices Ajey S Gadkari and Sharmila U Deshmukh, delivered its verdict on Khan's plea on Friday. Advocated by Sharad Rai, the actor contended that engaging in and concluding a relationship are ordinary aspects of life. He argued that the mere occurrence of a suicide following a breakup does not warrant the filing of an IPC section 306 (abetment of suicide) case with its ensuing consequences of arrest and custody. The Alibaba actor emphasized that there was no indication that he undertook any action with the explicit criminal intent of coercing Sharma into suicide. Additionally, he highlighted Sharma's status as a mental health patient under medical supervision, citing her proximity to suicide. ALSO READ: SHOCKING! Given their status as actors hailing from different religious backgrounds, the case drew considerable media scrutiny, according to Khan. He asserted that he was facing a barrage of unfounded allegations from individuals seeking to pin him for what he insisted was a straightforward suicide case. Contrarily, the police, opposing Khan's plea, presented arguments based on CCTV footage. They contended that Sharma appeared normal before Khan entered the room, but her demeanor shifted significantly, appearing "very disturbed" after he emerged.
