Udit Narayan Receives Death Threats; Singer Approaches Anti-Extortion Cell For Help
Well-known singer Udit Narayan has been receiving death threats from an unidentified person. The singer has approached the Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai for help; but so far, no FIR has been filed
Of late, many Bollywood celebs have been complaining of social media abuse. After filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, playback singer Udit Narayan is the latest to fall prey to a serious issue. This news comes as a shocker, as the singer has been living with this gruesome reality for past one month, before he approached the respective official bodies to find out the culprit.
According to Hindustan Times, Udit Narayan has been receiving death threats from a specific number. The calls have been coming from a stolen phone located in Bihar. Senior police inspector of Amboli Police station, Bharat Gaikwad who is in-charge of this case, said, “We have recorded the statement of Udit Narayan. As there had been a threat, as per the SOP (standard operating procedure) the statement was sent to the AEC of the crime branch for inquiry.”
The singer had approached anti-extortion cell of Mumbai Crime Branch. However, only his calls were traced and so far no FIR has been registered. A person named Laxman has been identified in this case, who knows about Udit Narayan’s whereabouts and his daily schedules; and threatens to kill him.
The officer who is in charge of this case said, “As per Narayan’s statement, the caller has been abusing and threatening him. We have increased patrolling near Narayan’s residence. Police personnel have been deployed in the vicinity in plain clothes to keep constant watch on suspicious people.”
According to reports, the singer received his first call a month ago, followed by second one on July 17 and third one on July 23. It has also come to light that the singer's building guard’s phone was stolen on his way to Bihar some three months back, thus, it seems like the culprit might have discovered his number from there.
