Actress Urmila Matondkar is the latest celebrity to have come out in support of Shah Rukh Khan after he was trolled for seemingly 'spitting' at Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral. A video of King Khan was shared by Arun Yadav, the state in charge of BJP Haryana's information technology department from the funeral asking, “Did he spit?” Since then, a certain section of people has blamed SRK for 'spitting' at Mangeshkar’s funeral. However, the truth is that after saying a dua, the actor did not spit but blew air which Muslims follow as a pious practice.
Now, Urmila has reacted to this and said it’s really sad to see that politics has reached such low levels. India Today quoted the actress as saying, “As a society, we have deteriorated so much that we think praying is spitting. You are talking about an actor who has represented the country on various international platforms. Politics has reached such low levels and it's really sad.”
At the funeral, Shah Rukh Khan was seen standing beside his manager Pooja Dadlani as he paid their last respects to the late singer. The 56-year-old actor was seen folding his hands, he then raised prayer followed by blowing out air from his mouth as he bent over Lata Mangeshkar’s mortal remains.
Blowing out air is a part of the prayer for the departed soul in Islam.
