It’s been quite a while since all the Bollywood award shows’ credibility has gone for a toss. No, we aren’t endorsing that, but it’s the mess on social media after the recently-held Filmfare Awards 2020, which has been grabbing the headlines these days. Soon after the winners were declared, an ocean of unhappy fans took to Twitter and got #BoycottFilmfare trending at the top. Why? As per them, the jury neglected some spectacular performances and took the biased route. Netizens weren’t fine with the idea of Ananya Panday and team Gully Boy Singh bagging so many awards.

Amidst all this, an old video of superstar Salman Khan openly trolling Bollywood awards has made its way to the internet and netizens can’t stop but call it relevant, especially in today’s time. The clip sees Salman calling them stupid and that he won’t go and pick up an award just for the sake of it, given it’s a prestigious honour as the National Award. “I will not go and pick up a Filmfare Award or any stupid award. Like, there are 3-4 awards that they contacted me for, but I didn’t want to go pick them up. National Award mile, that’s prestigious, that I will go and pick up. But I will not go to a magazine that is running on our (film industry) strength. Understand?” says Salman.

He adds, “Stars ke interview pe yeh magazine chal rahi hai aur woh hi aapko bulate hai aur bolte hai ki, ‘We are going to give you an award. You come and perform.’ Then they sell it to Pan Parag or Manikchand, and we are like idiots, sitting there and suit-vuit pehen ke award le rahe hai. It’s like, tomorrow, my driver, my servant and my makeup man will come and say, ‘Baba, aaj hum tumko award dete hai.’ It’s stupid!”
