Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi who is all set for his upcoming directorial venture Lahore 1947 starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, has been sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment by a Jamnagar court in a cheque-bouncing case. Ashok Lal, a notable industrialist and shipping magnate from Jamnagar, alleged that he received 10 cheques, each amounting to Rs 10 lakh, from Rajkumar Santoshi. Following the deposit of the checks within the specified time, they allegedly bounced, prompting the businessman to attempt contact with the 67-year-old regarding the matter. Despite efforts to establish communication, the businessman claimed that he was unsuccessful, leading him to file a lawsuit under the Negotiable Instruments Act. In a recent hearing, the court issued a two-year jail sentence for the Bollywood veteran and directed him to reimburse the businessman double the amount owed as per the court's decision. The veteran director's next project, Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, brings together Santoshi, Sunny Deol, and Aamir Khan for the first time. This collaboration marks the 17th venture under Aamir Khan Productions (AKP). Notably, the veteran filmmaker and Sunny Deol have previously teamed up for three box-office successes: Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. Reports suggest that he will move to the higher court to challenge the decision.
