Over the past few years, fans have been eagerly waiting for Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan to collaborate again for one of their most-anticipated franchises, Don. While the third part of the movie has been in the works for quite some time now, earlier it was reported by Pinkvilla that the actor had opted out of it. He wanted to focus more on doing “commercial films that cater to the universal section of audience.” Later reports of Ranveer Singh replacing SRK’s don, started doing rounds which had left the fans disappointed. 

Well, it seems like the makers are eager to take this new collaboration forward. According to multiple media reports, Ranveer will be headlining the next Don movie and carrying forward the legacy of the beloved franchise established by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. As per a tweet by an industry insider, the franchise will be going under a makeover. The makers are planning to make the official announcement on the actor’s birthday, next week. For the unversed, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don (1987), the Farhan Akhtar directorial Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006) was loved by the audience. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, the sequel of the first movie, Don 2: The King Is Back, was released in 2011. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the makers of the film to release the third instalment of the movie, for over a decade now. On the work front, after a disappointing run at the box office, Ranveer will be next seen in Karan Johar’s directorial comeback Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The ambitious project also stars an ensemble cast of Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan among many others. On the other hand, Farhan Akhtar’s movie Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra, Alia and Katrina Kaif is currently under the pre-production stage.
