On March 23, 2024, during the IPL match between KKR and SRH at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, the Jawan star was captured on camera smoking in the stands. Dressed handsomely in a white t-shirt and sporting a ponytail hairstyle, SRK's casual demeanour seemed to belie the controversy brewing around him.

Following the circulation of the video, netizens were quick to express their opinions, with many condemning SRK's actions as shameful. This is not the first time Shah Rukh Khan has found himself embroiled in such a controversy. During the 2012 IPL season, he was similarly photographed smoking during a match between KKR and Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged against him under the Rajasthan Prohibition of Smoking Act, 2000, by Anand Singh, a cricket academy owner in Jaipur.




A section of the crowd criticized the Dunki actor while some appreciated his style and swag as his smoking video went viral. A user wrote, "Alag Swag hai apne King Khan ka", Another one commented, That's not how you set an example" In response, Shah Rukh Khan pleaded guilty to the charge of smoking in a public place during an IPL game and was fined Rs. 100. This incident serves as a reminder of the scrutiny that public figures like Shah Rukh Khan face and the importance of adhering to regulations, even in the midst of public events.
