A few days ago, we told you Abhishek Bachchan backed out
of JP Dutta’s Paltan at the eleventh hour. This obviously left the director
scouting for another actor. The team wanted someone who could fly to Ladakh at
a day’s notice.
Finally the search has ended and the director found his man. Sanam Teri Kasam actor Harshvardhan Rane will step into Abhishek Bachchan’s shoes. Sources told a leading daily, “Rane, more or less, has the same built as Abhishek, so he suited the role as far as physicality was concerned. His look tests as a soldier got a big thumbs up. It worked out well, as he too was on the lookout for a good performance-oriented role.”
A few hours ago, the actor confirmed the news on his Twitter account. He posted the tweet with the caption, “Thankyou God, Thankyou #JPdutta sir, thankyou @MediaRaindrop Daddy I know you doing this from up there.”
When Abhishek had backed out, Nidhi Dutta of JP Films had
said, "Abhishek Bachchan is no longer part of Paltan for personal reasons
best known to him .It has come as a shock to us as this happened less than 24
hours before our unit left to shoot in Ladakh. But we also believe that
especially in the movies we make it's the soldiers sitting up there that choose
who will play them and recreate their lives on screen. Nevertheless we wish him
luck with his future endeavours.
Reportedly, the makers were looking for a tall actor ,who not only had great screen presence but was also physically fit .The role is as challenging as it is physically demanding and after Abhishek, Harshvardhan Rane was the perfect fit. In fact JP Dutta was blown away by him in the very first meeting and immediately knew he had found the actor he was looking for. Harsh is undoubtedly one of the best looking actors around with an enviable physique that takes years of hardwork to build. After his Bollywood debut Sanam Teri Kasam, the actor became an overnight sensation with female fans thanks to his looks, intensity and striking screen presence. The actor who normally maintains a low profile , has been in talks with a few filmmakers.
