Yami Gautam On Keratosis Pilaris: Actress Reveals People’s Reaction To Her Skin Condition During Shoots: ‘It Should Be Airbrushed, And That Would Affect Me A Lot’

Back in October this year, Yami Gautam had revealed in a lengthy Instagram post, that she has been suffering from a skin condition called 'keratosis pilaris' since teenage. She mentioned that she developed this skin problem during her teenage years and that there is still no cure for it. While many were thinking why Yami had suddenly opened up about it after so many years, in a recent interview, she reveals why she decided to speak about her skin condition publicly. The Uri actress also stated that it took her many years to accept and embrace it.
While speaking to Mid-Day, Gautam also spoke about how people would react to her skin condition. She revealed that during shoots, people use to suggest to her that her skin should be 'airbrushed or concealed' and that affected her a lot. Yami was quoted saying, “When people saw me at shoot, they would talk about how it should be airbrushed or concealed. That would affect me a lot. It took years to accept it and wear my confidence. I was overwhelmed to see the response to the post.”
The Kaabil actress added that for her “writing the post wasn’t difficult instead it was liberating. The journey from the time she learned about her skin condition to the day she put the post out on social media was quite challenging.”
Yami had earlier shared unfiltered pictures of herself from the shoot and spoke about how she finally decided to embrace her 'flaws'. An excerpt from her post read, “I've dealt with it for many years now and today finally, I decided to let go of all my fears and insecurities and found the courage to love and accept my ‘flaws’ wholeheartedly.
