Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to have a spin-off featuring an all women starcast at the helm? No, not true, says a source close to the project.
There is a big story on an entertainment portal regarding a “female version” of Zoya Akhtar’s iconic hit Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. However when I contacted someone very close to the project, this is the response I got. “Just because there is Dobaara in the title doesn’t mean they will return to the same story again. Yeh kya baat hui? Imagine a female version of Dil Chahta Hai . If they can switch genders for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara then why not Dil Chahta Hai? No such project is on the anvil,” says the source, adding that the one who thought up this idea deserves a special mention.
“That person has even decided on the cast. He says Alia Bhatt will play a role in the gender-switched Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara. Yaar, tum hi bana lo picture (you make the film),” the source laughs uproariously.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a bro-comedy that released in 2011. It was directed by Zoya Akhtar and starred Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Kalki Kochlin and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The story revolved around three friends and how they reconnected for a 3-week-long trip that put the thrust on their relationship with each other and with the world.
