Genius, Movie Review: An Insult To Intelligence
12 hours have elapsed, still haven't recovered. Genius, this word was never diluted so much before! Genius, this word was never disrespected so much before!
Genius is something that could have been avoided-
conceptualising, executing and even reviewing! How can Anil 'Gadar' Sharma make such a movie for his son?
Obviously he had made a grand promise to Uttkarsh in his childhood, but I wish
he had told him, 'Putar, mere se nahin ho payega'. So Daddy Dearest yet went about it and the result is you run
for cover. Genius is nothing but nothing.
No screenplay, no dialogues, no acting, no emotion, no
songs... nothing to mention about. The film is dead on arrival. There's no story, either else I would have made the
exception of breaking my rule of unravelling the content to fill up the
emptiness which I am feeling while penning this. What happened, Mr Sharma?Aren't you the same man who made
Hukumat, Gadar and Apne?
Rrring Rrring! Nawazuddin Siddiqui needs to be called up
rightaway and asked that why he came on board of this abstract whatever. Very
fat pay packet?
Mithun Chakraborty finds himself in many frames, but how
much does his presence or lines (none to few) count in the scheme of things?
Ayesha Jhulka is wasted. I don't know if Uttkarsh will feel terrible that you
have let him down completely. The young man tries pretty hard, but finds no
support in any department. Ditto for his ladylove, the debutante Ishita
Chauhan. Both are left fending for themselves, high and dry. The inability of
the maker to infuse nice romance makes it more tough for them. Himesh
Reshammiya comes up with a bit of ho-ha-hum but how can only bells and whistles
work? Will need a Uttkarsh 2.0 now for
him to stay afloat in this fiercely competitive tinsel town. He should just
brush this off as a genius, err, genuine accident and head to other directors.
Oops, I am forgetting the meaning of genius!

And Mr Sharma, please come out of your Sunny Deol hangover
which is so evident almost throughout the number of minutes that you drove us
to despair, frustration and lunacy (in that order) with this one. Uttkarsh is
driven to do a Sunny shouting so strongly, that at times he is given scenes which
have him down with an ear problem so that his screaming exemplifies conviction.
Need to resume normal life again, will I?
