Ujda Chaman, Movie Review: Baal Nahin Ujde, But This Sunny Singh Story Is Bald On Engagement

You land up at a restaurant with certain expectations. You order what you want. The cook has all the ingredients and he uses them too. But hasn't it often happened that you are still served a very ainvayi dish? And hasn't it also happened that you still start eating it thinking you'll enjoy it as you dig deeper into it--- but soon lose interest and leave the rest for the waiter to take it back?
Toh bas aisa hi kuch haal hai is baal ki story ka. The issue of losing self-confidence and getting rejected by girls if you're losing hair is digestable (many girls don't like bald men, but call them sexy just to avoid arguments)- but uske aage kya? The film just doesn't go beyond that.
Sunny Singh, the protagonist, does a good job. Karishma Sharma, Aishwarya Sakhuja, Sharib Hashmi and Atul Kumar come up with sincere performances. Maanvi Gagroo steals a march. But Abhishek Pathak lets them all down with extremely tacky direction.
Wonder who are the music director, lyrics writer and singers of this extremely linear film? Missed those slides in the titles (my fault)- but don't want to google now. What's the point? The background score made my head hurt, the songs (even though they are nap-breaks) extended it till the neck.
The film comes out like a (noisy) play. Pathak needs to go back to the drawing board. The music team needs a break.
