Shabana Azmi Pushed Sonam Kapoor To Be An Actor

It was Shabana Azmi who drove Sonam Kapoor to filmdom. And Sonam is Shabana's 'bachcha'. Apparently Anil Kapoor made Sonam meet Shabana so that she could drill some sense into his daughter's brain and help her pursue academics.
But Sonam was clearly not interested in studies and came back to Shabana saying she wants to become an actress. Shabana Azmi, who plays the role of Neerja's mother Rama Bhanot, said at the trailer launch, "Sonam was very scholarly. I told her to complete her studies from the London School of Economics. But then she came back and cried saying 'Shabana Aunty I want to become an actress'. And then Anil was furious and he said, 'et tu Brute!' It was me who introduced her to her Kathak teacher. Sonam is like my daughter, hence there was no difficulty in playing a mom to her."
That's an interesting revelation!
