Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a name synonymous with the modern Indian bridal fashion. The man who’s creations are adored by Bollywood actress like Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan to name a few has stirred up a hornet’s nest with his latest statement.

The man who is responsible for Anushka Sharma’s all-star and all-heart bridal looks, waxed eloquent about the kind of models he prefers to showcase his ethereal designs. “In fashion, you have to reinvent yourself every three to five years. You need to be fresh. Right now, I’ve become tired of gaunt faces and stick-thin models. I’m obsessed by boobs!," said the designer.

Sabyasachi said the above in an interview to Architectural Digest magazine. Known to speak his mind, this is not the first time, the flamboyant designer has said something controversial.Recently, Sabyasachi, speaking at the Harvard India Conference, had said, “I think, if you tell me that you do not know how to wear a saree, I would say shame on you. It’s a part of your culture, you need to stand up for it.” Needless to say, the designer had been at the receiving end of sharp criticism and scathing comments from feminist groups and organisations.


 Sabyasachi was the man responsible for making Anushka look like the most breathtaking and dreamiest bride in town for her wedding with Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. Not just Anushka, even Virat had worn a Sabya creation on the d-day.
