19 May 2018 was one eventful day as the entire world witnessed one the grandest royal weddings. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exchanged the wedding vows and decided on forever. Meghan made for one of the most beautiful brides we had ever seen. The SUITS actress wore a dress designed by esteemed designer Givenchy. A long white satin dress with boat neck, Meghan looked marvelous on her D-day. However, soon after her appearance, designer Emilia Wickstead claimed that the dress looked like one of her designs.
To Daily Mail, she had quoted, "Her dress is identical to one of our dresses." Post her claim, Diet Prada had called out to her and sort of given a taste of her medicine as the account shared a collage of a design from Emilia's Spring 2018 line and a 1950s jacket by designer Jaques Fath. Both were almost identical. Now, after almost two years of the controversy, Diet Prada has once again targeted Emilia Wickstead.
Diet Prada shared a few pictures from the archive from 1967 and wrote, "Since @emiliawickstead has gotten her knickers all in a twist over the supposed infringement of her groundbreaking design, here is yet another archival 1967 Givenchy wedding dress from the @chicagomuseum that may have served as inspiration for Clare Waight Keller’s Givenchy design. Different construction with the seaming and a more traditional boatneck than Keller's exaggerated version, but overall a strong resemblance with the relaxed trumpet silhouette vs. Wickstead's A-line skirt and fully bare shoulders. Dieters, how do you feel about Wickstead going off on Markle/Givenchy? Personally did not expect someone at her level to try and make this historic moment about herself smh. Pro tip: don’t bite the hand that feeds you if you want to keep cashing those royal paychecks lol #royalwedding #royal #royalfamily #meghanmarkle #princeharry #royalstyle #givenchy #clairewaightkeller #emiliawickstead."
