Sonam Kapoor’s Wedding Anniversary Deserves A Throwback To Her Big Fat Punjabi Wedding
Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja are celebrating their wedding anniversary today and there is no better way to congratulate them than doing a throwback to the grandest Bollywood wedding we witnessed!
Sonam Kapoor’s choice to pick Anuradha Vakil did come as a surprise to everyone, considering the fashionista is known for her experimental style. But known to bring back forgotten textiles, the designer seemed like the perfect fit for more traditional functions. Her ivory and pink lehenga with zardosi embroidery was perfect for the first half of the mehendi ceremony that included closest family and friends.
The now iconic white and gold Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla lehenga was her outfit for the sangeet celebration. The dreamy lehenga brought on a wave of fashion trends that brides all over are still obsessing over. Everything from the structure of the blouse to her gajra laden hair screamed royalty!
Her wedding day was exactly what we had been waiting for, changing three outfits through the day, and we loved that bit of extra she pulled off!
For the main wedding function she wore a traditional red lehenga by Anuradha Vakil. The simple zardosi worked lehenga along with those pearl and gold jewellery made her look like she stepped out of a dream. She definitely had the world talking with her choice of a rather simple lehenga but according to the designer, Sonam wanted something that wasn't bling heavy which in turn would be a priceless heirloom.
The couple had a private family party post their wedding and the now Mrs. Ahuja stunned us all in her blushed pink lehenga by designer Anamika Khanna which featured heavy zardozi work. She kept the look very simple with gold chaandbalis and inherited kadas.
The reception party was everything we expected, Bollywood’s biggest turned up in their best designer wedding looks. This was the Sonam we were all knew, the modernist bride turned up in a light coloured grey and off white lehenga with bold chevron printed skirt, something we have never seen in a bridal trousseau. While people contemplated on her choice of outfit, we think that there could be no other outfit that would match up to her trend breaking, trend setting persona.
