Britney Spears’ Father Resigns As Conservator Of Her Estate; Her Lawyer Calls It A ‘Big Victory’-Reports
Going by the latest reports, the conservatorship battle between father and daughter has come to an end. According to a report in Deadline, Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears who has been dominating the singer’s life and finance for the past 13 years has decided to ‘step down’ as conservator of her estate; thus, seemingly ending the bitter legal feud. The battle was about Britney Spears wanting to remove her father Jamie as the conservator. For this, she and her legal team even filed a petition which was downright rejected by the court on Wednesday.

The latest news suggests that Jamie has decided to resign as there are no grounds for his removal but his departure is not imminent. As per the report, Jamie asserted that he would cooperate with the court on a transition; however, a timetable for his resignation was not given. “Mr. Spears continues to serve dutifully, and he should not be suspended or removed, and certainly not based on false allegations. Even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests,” the filing stated.

“So even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator,” it added.

Having said that, Britney’s new attorney Matthew Rosengart said that Jamie’s resignation from conservatorship was a big victory for the singer.

For the unversed, conservatorship, which is also called guardianship in many countries, is a legal structure in which a person’s personal, economic, and legal decision-making power is decided by a guardian.
