In conversation with Oprah Winfrey, Elliot Page, spoke on various topics ranging from opening about himself, the challenges that he faced, and also the challenges faced by trans youth. He shared that he was expressing it way before he opened up about being a transgender in an open letter.

He said, “I was expressing this to people in my life much before posting that letter, and telling people for the first time, and knowing I wanted a moment to become comfortable in myself and to be able to get to that point.” He also shared being shattered with the backlash received by trans people in the current times. “For me, in this time we're in right now and especially with this horrible backlash we're seeing towards trans people, particularly trans youth, it really felt imperative to do so.”

During the interview, he shared sending pictures of him to his friends, after he got his surgery for the upper half of his body. After coming out, he was seen questioning himself why it made him feel just accepting it publically was so difficult.

Elliot Page in his open letter wrote, “To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.”
