Johnny Depp, who played Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts informed fans a few days ago that he has resigned from Warner Bros. The actor issued an official ‘short’ statement on the same after he lost the court case against ex-wife Amber Heard and a UK newspaper. After a 16-day long trial in the libel court case, the London High Court ruled out that Depp is indeed a ‘wife-beater’ as mentioned in an article published by The Sun. In his statement, Johnny said that he was asked to resign by Warner Bros. and mentioned he has respected and agreed to their request.

 According to latest reports in The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp will still be paid his full remuneration even though he shot for only one scene in Fantastic Beasts 3. The report stated that Depp shot for only one scene since the production began on September 20, in London. Reportedly, Johnny will be paid his full salary because of his pay-or-play contract. As per the contract, the actor will be fully compensated whether or not the film is made and even if it is recast.

As per reports in Screen Rant, the Fantastic Beasts actor will be earning a mammoth amount of total USD 10 million i.e Rs 74,22,75,000.00, according to the conversion rate on Tuesday. With the current reports, even after resigning from Warner Bros. Johnny Depp will continue to earn from the film Fantastic Beasts. Apart from that, as there was no morality clause in Depp’s contract, even after it was modified with each new instalment.


Fantastic Beasts 3 is scheduled for a release on July 15, 2022. Johnny Depp was suing News Group Newspapers, publisher of The Sun, and the paper’s executive editor, Dan Wootton, at the High Court in London, in connection to a 2018 article where they referred to him as ‘wife-beater’, after ex-wife Amber Heard alleged him.
