Game of Thrones’ Makers David Benioff and D B Weiss Choose Netflix Project Over The Star Wars Trilogy
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who happen to be the creators of the much-popular Game Of Thrones, have ditched their plans of working on the Star Wars Trilogy. It was only this year Disney CEO Bob Iger had disclosed the news of a collaboration between Disney’s Lucasfilm and the GoT makers for the trilogy, the first part of which was being aimed to hit the big screens in 2022. As per the duo, it’s their busy schedule that has acted as an obstacle. Also, they chose to devote their time over a Netflix project.  (ALSO READ - Game Of Thrones Star Sophie Turner To Return To TV Again; Turner To Star In Survive Along With Corey Hawkins)

Both David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, in a conversation with Deadline, opened up on exiting the Star Wars trilogy and choosing Netflix. “We love Star Wars. When George Lucas built it, he built us too. Getting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything,” said the duo. They added, “There are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away.”

In response to the same, the President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, stated they hope to collaborate with David and Dan in the near future, as and when their busy schedules allow. “David Benioff and Dan Weiss are incredible storytellers. We hope to include them in the journey forward when they are able to step away from their busy schedule to focus on Star Wars,” said Kathleen.
