Over the years, there have been a few Hollywood movies that have featured actors from the Hindi film industry. But, only a few Bollywood songs have been used in foreign movies. Speaking of one such Bollywood song, it includes the popular hit song Chaiyya Chaiyya from the Shah Rukh Khan film Dil Se, which featured King Khan and Malaika Arora. Chaiyya Chaiyya was used in the opening and ending credits of the 2006 Hollywood film Inside Man directed by Spike Lee. Here’s the reason behind it.

On Movies Stackechange, one particular user revealed the reason behind director Spike Lee using Chaiyya Chaiyya in his film. The user shared details, answering the speculations made by fans, whether the filmmaker really liked the song that much or there was something else to it? The user mentioned that in the director’s commentary on the DVD, filmmaker Spike Lee shared why he used the Bollywood song Chaiyya Chaiyya in the opening scene of the film. According to the user, the filmmaker was teaching at a film school, when a student suggested the film Dil Se to him. As the movie has the famous Chaiyya Chaiyya song, reportedly, Spike Lee “simply really liked the song”.

As per the user, the Inside Man director liked the song and hence decided that he wanted to try using it in a film at some point. According to the report, a specific orchestral arrangement of the song was specifically made for the film Inside Man.

Meanwhile, speaking of the song Chaiyya Chaiyya, it is composed by Academy winning music composer A R Rahman, while the lyrics were composed by Gulzar. The song is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi. Talking about Inside Man, the film is based on a bank heist on Wall Street and features Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer and Willem Dafoe.
