We have run out of smart quips to start break-up articles with, with the number of them this year. And even as the year nears its end, rumours are that another couple has already broken up – Mariah Carey and her billionaire fiancé – now ex – James Packer.
No official word on what the reason of the break-up is, but as usual, the grapevine is in a flurry. Some reports claim that the real reason behind the break-up is Mariah’s lavish lifestyle. Some also go on to say that Packer wasn’t comfortable with the idea of a reality show that’d give viewers an intimate peek into their lives. Others also say that Packer’s mom just didn’t like Mariah. Mariah is said to have infuriated the family further by not attending the James sister's 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year.
Mariah and James got engaged in January and all reports suggested that they were planning their wedding before the rumours of their break-up hit the Internet. But looks like Mariah is getting something out of the engagement - James has agreed to let her keep the $10 million engagement ring that Packer had used to seal the deal.
Mariah Carrey was earlier married to Tommy Mottola in 1993 and they divorced in 2000. She was then married to Nick Cannon from 2008 to 2014. James Packer comes from the illustrious Kerry Packer family and is an Australian businessman, investor, and philanthropist.
