Two couples, Justin Bieber with wife Hailey Bieber and Rihanna with boyfriend ASAP Rocky, rocked the Met Gala 2021 red carpet with their sartorial choices
One of fashion's biggest and star-studded events, Met Gala is held annually to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York. While the event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, this year it's back again with a bang. Met Gala 2021's costume theme was "American independence" and it saw some breathtaking couture as celebrities gathered on the red carpet and ascended the hallowed steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The final celebrity to arrive fashionably late on the 2021 Met gala red carpet was Rihanna along with rumored boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Rihanna, whose annual MET appearances have always been iconic, including the high-fashion Maison Margiela pope look from 2018, didn't disappoint this time either.
The 'Under my umbrella' singer arrived in an all-black Balenciaga couture - a black overcoat and matching hat. She went all out when it came to accessorizing and wore over 267 carats of Bulgari diamonds, including two choker necklaces.
A$AP Rocky contrasted with his girlfriend by wearing a specially made multi-colored quilt-inspired look by Eli Russell Linnetz from the ERL spring 2022 collection. His out-of-the-box, quirky outfit sparked a meme fest on Twitter.
Another much-in-love couple, Justin Bieber and wife Hailey Bieber, twinned with each other in black in their first Met Gala together. Even though it seemed like the couple played safe considering everyone pushes their fashion boundaries at the MET Gala, they both looked gorgeous together while posing for photographs.
While Hailey wore a black, floor-length column gown with a plunging neckline from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, Justin looked dapper in a cropped blazer with flared pants and a Drew suitcase.
Interestingly, this was Justin's first Met Gala appearance after 2015.
