Naya Rivera Death: Glee Actor May Have Drowned While Saving Her 4-Year-Old Son, Say Reports, As Her Mortal Remains Are Finally Discovered

Glee actress Naya Rivera is no more. Her mortal remains were found in a lake in California after she went missing a few days ago. Naya rented a boat to go camping with her four-year-old son on Wednesday, however, the same day, officials reportedly received a 911 call saying that there was a child alone on a boat. While Naya's kid was on the boat wearing a life vest, Naya reportedly drowned and lost her life at the age of 33. It is being speculated that the actress sacrificed her life to save her son.
In a press conference held by the officials, Sheriff Bill Ayub shared details of the search operation. As reported by Elle.com, he said that Naya was "found in a northeastern portion of the lake, near the surface of the water. The depth of the water in that area is between 35 and 60 feet deep and there’s heavy brush and trees on the lake bed there."
The Sheriff mentioned that Naya's son confirmed going for a swim with his mother and she helped him climb back on the boat. As he looked back, he saw his mother 'disappearing' under the surface of the water.
Sheriff Bill Ayub then also answered a question raised by a reporter asking why did Naya didn't climb back on the boat while she helped son. To this, Sheriff said, "It would be speculation to say at this point [how her son got on the boat but not herself]. There are a lot of currents on the lake that appear particularly in the afternoon. We believe it was mid-afternoon when she disappeared, the idea being that perhaps the boat started drifting. It was unanchored. And she mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat but not enough to save herself. The son was in the water, yes."
