Yesteryear's Shocker: Madonna's Dare-Bare Conical Bra Act Still To Be Outmatched At The Cannes Festival

Diaphanous gowns -- a la Aishwarya Rai's Cinderella look, occasionally conservative and the occasionally mildly peekaboo ensembles of Deepika Padukone, the chic hauteur of Sonam Kapoor-- are the looks being sported by our abhinetris at the ongoing Cannes festival.

In fact, Madonna's display of a conical bra and knickers had stirred up a right royal controversy way back in 1991. On the steps of the Palais, the pop diva was at the Cannes for the premiere of a documentary on her titled Truth or Dare.

In a Jean Gaultier creation, Madonna had dropped her cloak to reveal the conical, leaving-nothing-to-the-imagination conical bra and knickers.

This quick strip tease is still rated as one of the top ten scandals which rocked the festival and the rest of the world. Needless to add, the paparazzi couldn't have enough of Madonna that evening, as many as 16 years ago.

Incidentally, all through her prime days as a pop star, Madonna would frequently make her bras a fashion statement at live concert shows.
