Chutzpah: Varun Sharma Reveals His First Mail ID As He And Manjot Singh Share There Weird Internet Experiences- EXCLUSIVE
Dinesh Vijan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s web series about the influence of the internet over the youth today, titled Chutzpah, is set to start streaming from this Friday. The series tells the story of five individuals that are connected through the internet. It features the Fukrey pair Varun Sharma and Manjot Singh alongside Tanya Maniktala, Diksha Singh and Elnaaz Norouzi.

With the internet and social media, everyone has had some good and some weird experiences, and when mentioned, Varun shares his from his school days. “When I was in 11th or 12th standard, the internet was very new for all of us. So, I would save my canteen money and use it to surf the internet at the cyber cafe, when the speed used to be so low. I would enter the Yahoo chatroom and would type “ASL please”, and would meet random people,” he shares.

Chutzpah also touches the concept of mistaken identity and Varun shares that in those chat rooms, even he has done that. “I would meet someone from Florida and tell them that I am from Miami, and after coming back to my home I would brag to my friends in my colony that I made a friend in Florida. My email address at that time used to be ‘loverboy_apj’ and I used to feel so cool about it,” he laughs.

However, Manjot’s experience wasn’t as funny. He recalls the incident of how a fake rumour on the internet shocked him. “Long ago, I heard a rumour about me that being a Sardar, I had my hair cut. It has been the biggest rumour of my life and I couldn’t understand why do people do such cruel things and misuse the power of internet. I had to post a few things to prove that the rumour wasn’t true. Even after working so hard in this industry if you have to prove yourself like this, it feels bad,” he insists.
