Dill Mill Gayye Creative Writer Palki Malhotra: 'Pandemic Gave Writers A Reality Check To Do Their Homework'- EXCLUSIVE
Palki Malhotra speaks to us about writing Love Scandal And Doctors and how she felt the lockdown opened up perspectives for writers
Creative honcho Palki Malhotra who has helmed some of the most loved youth shows like Dil Dosti Dance, Dill Mill Gayye, Girls on Top had just conceived an idea before the lockdown, a light-hearted show revolving around doctors.

Marking her debut into the world of web, the founder of the famous dance troupe Desi Hoppers, believes the pandemic not only gave her a different perspective altogether, but a lot of time in hand to think about variation in concepts, which stemmed the base to make an out and out medical series which was initially supposed to be a feel good youth drama. Palki shares, "Majority of my work includes youth centric shows. That's been my forte. But to work on making a show which is pure fun and very relatable has always been a challenge as you don't have cliff hanger climaxes or over the top twists and turns. It sure is tricky to keep your audience hooked onto an easy going show. When we initially began writing episodes of LSD, it was 30 episodes of light hearted drama, which turned around when Ekta threw open a challenge to us to create an out of the box medical thriller concept. It was a first for me to work on something which I have never experimented with before, but with all the time we had on hand due to the lockdown, my co-writer Prakriti Mukherjee and I took up the challenge given to us by Ekta and worked on a smashing medical thriller story which eventually gave the OTT world it's first ever show on these lines,. which I'm glad it did so, because it helped us broaden our thought processes to concepts such as these in ways more than one."
"There was massive digitisation last year and the number of people watching OTT content skyrocketed. First they were selective and after a point, people watched everything and anything that was available. The fact that there was an easy access to all genres of shows put us writers in a spot. It was about time to do things differently, to break free from the clutter and that is exactly how LSD is now India's first medical thriller. We had enough time in our hands to do our homework. Moreover there was a lot of unlearning for learning new possibilities and here we are," Palki concluded.
