Empire's Taraji P Henson Reveals Three Elements That Got Her On-Board Coffee And Kareem; Hangover's Ed Helms Is One Of Them
Taraji P Henson who has featured in many well-known projects like Empire, Hidden Figures, What Men Want, Proud Merry and many more is soon to be seen in Netflix's comedy film Coffee And Kareem. The film is about a lady, her 40-year-old boyfriend who is a cop and her 12-year-old son named Kareem.  Ed Helms plays the role of Taraji's boyfriend named Coffee. So Kareem is not okay with his mother dating a white cop and hence he makes all the plans to get him out of his mom's life. With all the twists and turns, these three become a gang. While the story is interesting, it seems to script really didn't matter much to Taraji.

In her recent interview with wTop News, Taraji revealed that she did not read the script before saying yes to Coffee And Kareem. Henson shared that she said yes to this film because of three things - Ed Helms, Action-Comedy and Netflix. She was quoted saying, "I literally got the email and the three things I saw was ‘action comedy,’ ‘Ed Helms’ and ‘Netflix. I said, ‘Yes,’ and I hadn’t even read the script yet. … I fell in love with Ed in ‘The Office.’ That’s one of my all-time favorite comedy series."

Talking about Coffee And Kareem's storyline, she shared, "One is a 40-year-old man and the other is a kid in middle school. The kid is very upset that the mother is dating this white cop, so he tries to have the cop taken out. He saved up his little piggy bank and he goes to this little gangbanger trying to pay him to take the cop out.”

Coffee And Kareem is set to release on April 3 on Netflix.
