Amid the Coronavirus Pandemic, several Bollywood films are slating for a digital release as one can’t assure when the situation will normalise and the theatres get to reopen. The list includes Ayushmann Khurrana – Amitabh Bachchan’s Gulabo Sitabo, Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi biopic and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Ghoomketu among many others. Some time ago, the teaser of Ghoomketu made it to the web and all we can say is we are in for one heck of an entertaining ride. The film also stars Anurag Kashyap and will premiere on ZEE5 on May 22.
The teaser of Ghoomketu starts with Nawazuddin introducing himself as an aspiring scriptwriter, who lands in Mumbai to fulfill his dreams of working in films. The situation takes a hilarious turn and he heads to a police station to file a complaint about his stolen scripts. Anurag Kashyap plays the police officer here, who is already given the task of finding Ghoomketu Nawaz. Well, from here is where the fun ride begins. Ghoomketu also has special appearances by Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh.
Nawazuddin, in his statement, described Ghoomketu as a quirky and never-seen-before character and revealed he enjoyed portraying it. “Ghoomketu has a phenomenal storyline which will definitely entertain the audience. During this time of the lockdown, I am glad that a humorous film that the entire family can watch is being streamed on ZEE5,” he said.
The film has been helmed by Pushpendra Nath Misra and jointly produced by Phantom Films and Sony Pictures Networks (SPN). It co-stars Ila Arun, Raghubir Yadav, Swanand Kirkire and Ragini Khanna.
