Actress Kiara Advani who played the real-life character of Sakshi Rawat, a hotel manager, and cricketer M. S. Dhoni's wife, in Neeraj Pandey's critically and commercially successful sports biopic M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), is back with her second biopic Shershaah starring Sidharth Malhotra. The actress will be seen playing Captain Vikram Batra's beloved Dimple Cheema in the upcoming war drama, directed by Vishnuvardhan.
Captain Vikram Batra is the epitome of courage and inspiration and his real-life love story with Dimple Cheema is one to talk about. Dimple who was engaged to Captain Batra before he was martyred fighting with the enemy at a height of 16,000 feet during the Kargil conflict in 1999 did not marry after Vikram’s death. Asked Kiara if she could love someone the same way Dimple did to which she said, " I would definitely aspire to have a love story that would make me feel the same way because I’m sure it must have been so precious for her to have made this choice to let that love go beyond one's lifetime. So in that sense, it’s very aspirational as a love story. And the common thread that I feel, connects me with her is that I truly am as a Leo I am very loyal in love so I feel like that’s one part of my personal life that I would always prioritize. I like the way she did as well so I could totally relate to her.
Speaking about her first meeting with Dimple the actress reveals, “It was wonderful! We met in Chandigarh before shooting for the film. She came to my hotel room and we were just two women sitting, it was just like a woman to woman conversation. She very sweetly shared, I didn’t have to ask her any questions she was sharing it and reliving her memories and time with Captain Vikram Batra, there is still so much love in her eyes while she was speaking of him like he is still around. Like he’s still there and he’s hearing us or that’s how she feel.” She further adds, “Everything that she had mentioned in a conversation, everything that she has shared with me was all in the script. So I kept thinking oh yeah I could literally understand that our seen is this and this is that scene. It was beautiful. It was truly special.”
