In a twist of fate, Rani Bharti’s life changes drastically, overnight. Featuring the dynamic Huma Qureshi in the lead, the show showcases how the current Chief Minister disrupts the state’s political machinery in a blink. While his party officials await the name of his successor with bated breaths, the CM’s sudden announcement shocks everyone to the core including his wife Rani Bharti who seemed to be very innocent and submissive. The trailer of the series starts with a man trying to start his political journey.
However, due to a sudden change of events, he falls ill and Rani had to take over the reins. As the trailer progresses, we see the people of the state starts hailing Rani Bharti and she is absolutely baffled by the situation. It seems like a story about a Pawn (Rani Bharti) who becomes a Queen unknowingly and that’s when you come to know the game of politics is now getting dangerous. A political drama set in Bihar of the ’90s is gripping and will pique your interest. Reportedly, SonyLiv’s forthcoming political drama Maharani is based on Rabri Devi’s ascent to the Chief Minister’s throne after her husband was disqualified from contesting elections.
She recently talked about her character in the series Maharani to SpotboyE.com. Speaking excitedly about her role of a politician, Huma said, “It's not often that you get to portray a character that lets you explore so many layers as a performer. Rani Bharti has been a delight to play. She starts off as someone whom we all know and relate to but what she goes onto become is someone few of us can aspire for. It has been a wonderful experience of working with such a talented cast and I can’t wait for my viewers to watch the series.”
Directed by Karan Sharma, the show features Sohum Shah, Amit Sial and Vineet Kumar amongst others. Based out of Bihar, Maharani is a fictionalised series that is set to release on 28th May.
