Our Favourite Drama Series, This Is Us, Is Back This Month!
We’ve laughed and cried with the Pearson family from the NBC show, This Is Us. The show is back for a 4th season this month and here’s what we know so far
When the NBC show This Is Us premiered in 2016, it redefined the family drama space in a lot of ways. Prior to that, the space came with a lot of baggage. Viewers were less likely to go for it as compared to any other genre because a lot of the content was melodramatic and unreal. This Is Us changed a lot of that.
A show that tells the story of one family – the Pearsons, we fell in love immediately. Spanning over different generations and timelines, the Pearsons are all about love. Over the three seasons so far, we’ve seen births, deaths, weddings and everything in between. The primary characters - Jack, Rebecca, Kate, Kevin and Randall – all played by a stellar cast have been characters we wish we’d known in real life.
Each season of the show has introduced new characters, new subplots, maybe even new timelines and never has it seemed contrived. The writers of the show have managed to create a show that manages to make you emote – something not too many creators manage to do. Season 4 promises to be no different. The promotion of the new season hints that we’ll see a new character as well as meet Kate, Kevin and Randall when they are even younger – which is a fresh timeline as well.
The story so far is one that we’ve truly laughed and cried with. This Is Us is a cathartic experience that is enjoyable for every kind of viewer because it is about a fundamental emotion – human connection. We’ve immersed ourselves in their world and valued our families a little more with each episode. We cannot wait to see what the new season has in store for us and our favourite family, the Pearsons.
