Sunflower Actress Saloni Khanna Patel: ‘It Is So Hard To Keep A Straight Face With Sunil Grover’-EXCLUSIVE
Saloni Khanna Patel is having the time of her life currently. To begin with, earlier this month she got married to actor Viraf Patell on May 6 in an intimate court marriage. Now, she has her show Broken But Beautiful 3 up for release and next month, she will be seen with Sunil Grover in a new web show, Sunflower.

Talking about the latter, Saloni shares that Sunflower is a very interesting show. “It’s a comedy thriller that makes you think. There are a lot of things going on in that one show. Sunflower is going to be a very interesting watch especially in these times when everyone is feeling so negative and morale is down. This show will lift you up and make you think at the same time,” she promises, adding that the show and her character are completely different from Broken But Beautiful 3. “And that’s what makes it fun. I got to live two different lives on two different sets.”

Saloni was working with Sunil on a comedy show and the actor himself is a comedy legend. So, how was her experience? “It is so hard to keep a straight face with Sunil. The best part about him is that he doesn’t need to crack a joke to be funny. He just is. His humour comes from a lot of knowledge and experience and it is on a different level. It’s not slapstick, he is innately funny,” she raves, adding that since their show was also a comedy, it kind of made the journey easy. “We were just laughing so much before and after the shot, so staying in character was so easy as we were always in character.”

Saloni goes on to heap praises for her co-actor. “Every day when I would walk in on the set, I would say hi to Sunil, to which he would say something witty in response and I’d end up cracking every single time. It was great to work in such an atmosphere and time flew working with Sunil. He would keep it so easy and fun on set for everybody and even our director Vikas Bahl and Rahul Sengupta were equally humorous. It was a laughter riot on Sunflower,” she recalls gleefully.

Sunil is known for his characters like Dr Mashoor Gulati, Gutthi and Rinku Devi. So, did they get to see any of it while on set? “We would request Sunil to do them off camera, while the setup was being done or during the break. We would ask him to do a little bit of Gutthi, but usually he didn’t have to because he as himself cracked us up so much all the time. He kept everybody light on their feet and happy around him, and that’s a great quality to have. It’s one of the toughest things to make people laugh and he does it so simply and easily,” Saloni concludes.
