The Bigg Bull: Despite All The Odds, Abhishek Bachchan Starrer And Kookie Gulati Directorial Delivers A Smashing Hit On OTT
The Bigg Bull starring Abhishek Bachchan was released on Disney Plus Hotstar on 8th April this year. The film also features Ileana D’cruz, Nikita Dutta, Sohum Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Lekha Prajapati in pivotal roles.
The Bigg Bull is directed by Kookie Gulati, who made his feature directorial comeback after a decade-long break delivers one of the most commercial films on OTT. The film not only garnered love from the audiences but received huge appreciation from the film critics.
Based on a real story, The Big Bull follows the life of a small-time stockbroker Hemant Shah, who manipulated the loopholes in India's banking system to create a massive bull run on the stock exchange. Though there were many comparisons made between The Big Bull and a web series by the name Scam 1992, the success of the film has proved that film medium and web medium are incomparable and can carve a niche of their own.
The Big Bull remained the most viewed film on the OTT in recent times. In only 10 days, the film achieved a viewership of 10 million streams and held the number 1 spot for a month. It was the need of the hour to release the film on the digital platform keeping the pandemic in mind, but the film was written, shot, and executed for theatre release.
Overwhelmed by the response director Kookie shares, “I am so thankful to everyone, who loved the film. I still get so many messages and seeing all of that positive feedback is very rewarding. The Big Bull was my dream project and I am glad that people accepted and appreciated it. While it would have been a time to celebrate with the team - during these times it’s important to focus on safety and helping others as best as we can.”
The film is produced by Ajay Devgn Films and Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and currently streaming successfully on Disney Hotstar.
