Epic films and web series always pique everyone’s interest. Thanks to magnum opus like HBO hit series, Game Of Thrones, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat who have shown us how grand films and series can look like. Well, similarly, Nikkhil Advani who has given incredible films like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Airlift, Batla House, is going to come with a new epic saga, titled, The Empire. The teaser of the new series that will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar was released recently on his Instagram.
Going by the video, the epic teaser has a combined style of Game Of Thrones and Padmaavat. The video starts by showing a huge courtroom while the next frame shows how the battalion is gearing up for the war. The voice-over, in a royal tone states, “Paigam bhijwa dijiye sabko, hum aarahe hai (Send out the message to everyone, we are coming).” Interestingly, there was a scene where a character is seen arriving and he instantly reminded us of Ranveer Singh’s Khilji as he was seen donning a similar long fur coat and the bejewelled crown. A female, presumably a princess, is seen carrying a sword, giving us a little feel of Deepika Padukone’s Mastaani.
We also get to witness an epic battle in the video that looks pretty intriguing. The story seems to be on the lines of the Mughal Empire. Sharing the teaser, Advani wrote, “Get set for an experience like never before! Presenting India's first-ever digital magnum opus, Hotstar Specials The Empire. Coming soon only on @disneyplushotstarvip #HotstarSpecials #TheEmpire #ComingSoon”
HT carried Nikkhil Advani’s view on the project as he said, "Putting together The Empire has been a huge challenge but also a massive honour for me. Bringing alive a visually stunning world with a solid story narrative was the main aim for me, Mitakshara Kumar our director and everyone at Emmay Entertainment.”
"Right from the story, to the star-cast and high production value - our ambition was to create a show that is larger than life; one that leaves a lasting impression on viewers," he added.
