Binge Or Cringe, Pawan And Pooja Review: This Tale Of Romance Doesn't Infuse Enough Passion
The concept of celebrating love on Valentine’s Day is quite popular even today. If you visualize romance through films, then you’d imagine violins playing in the background, a dupatta flying in slo-mo, but does this really work in MX Player’s latest show Pawan and Pooja- a show that revolves around the twisted love stories of 3 couples in different age groups. Let’s find out in our review.

So the story is about 3 couples who share the same names, Pawan and Pooja. The first is an old retired couple, characters played by veterans like Mahesh Manjrekar and Deepti Naval. Post the demise of their friend, the couple decides to follow the mantra of YOLO which means You Only Live Once.

Then, we have a middle aged couple Pawan and Pooja essayed by Sharman Joshi and Gul Panag; they are dealing with loss of passion and intimacy in their marital life and to revive it, they are ready to go to any extent.

And finally, we have the new-age couple, social media influencers Pawan and Pooja played by Taaruk Raina and Natasha Bharadwaj who are in search of actual connections, in the virtual world.

How these 3 couples’ lives get intertwined resulting into more chaos is what forms the crux of the story.

The nature of the show is such that the script demands intimate scenes but the treatment of the scenes could at times make you feel like you’re watching a sex comedy, so the show is pretty high on the Beep Meter.

The performances by all the actors are decent but the drawback is the duration of each episode which s about 40 minutes. Even the twists of the show get predictable.

When the makers like Siddharth P Malhotra and Shaad Ali have created films like Hichki and Saathiya, you’re bound to have high expectations but the show fails on that parameter so we can call it blah-worthy!
