Now imagine a few dialogues with the same speed but with music, choreography, emotions, movements, and lights for two and a half hours on just ONE STAGE. The story of the film revolves around Alexander Hamilton - one of the founding fathers of America! A man who lives and writes like he’s running out of time! A man who’ll never be satisfied- history has its eyes on him as he embarks on a journey of building America! The film also features former US presidents George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson.
The story covers the full arc of an orphan Hamilton's life - from arriving in New York in 1776 to then going on to become one of the founding fathers of America. It covers the twists and turns in his friendships, his beliefs, his decisions, and its impact on his married life to what happens towards the end of his journey on earth! A wholesome story depicted on stage in a grand fashion.
All of this in 2 ACTS! Everything is one take. Hamilton has all the elements to keep you hooked to the screen for two and a half hours. It's got love, culture, US politics, and more. The film intends to transfix your heart and your mind. The story of Hamilton is sure to have you in a bind, racking your brain over what happened to him was fair or not.
The film is based on the book titled Book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. It features more than 50 actors and it won't be wrong to say that this incredible musical on Disney+ Hotstar is a performance art class! The music is given by hip-hop, R&B, and Pop and Soul add life to the film. Hamilton is a basket full of human emotions with every note, every word, every moment depicted with utmost perfection. It's got rhythm and chords of love and discord.
Among all the actors, I have two personal favourites. Number one is Lin Manuel Miranda who plays the lead character, Alexander Hamilton. This man is an explosion of energy and ability - you'll see him yapping, rapping, and acting. The film has approximately 50 songs and he is the one who has penned lyrics and created music for all. HATS OFF, Sir!
The second one is Renee Elise Goldsberry who plays Angelica Schuyler, the sister of Hamilton's wife Eliza. Goldsberry as Angelica is absolute magic on stage with her pitch-perfect singing, her musical dialogue delivery - not a note goes wrong - this woman was on SONG!
