Queen Review: Actress Ramya Krishnan Nails It With Her Gripping Performance
Co-Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan, the recently released web series - Queen is winning accolades from all corners. After a phenomenal response to the trailer, this web series is an entertainer. From the actor’s playing powerful characters to the storyline, web-series ‘Queen’ is engaging and keeps the viewers glued to their screens, wanting for more. Based on the life of politician J Jayalalithaa, the web-series starring actress Ramya Krishnan as the politician is attention-grabbing.

The first season of Queen has been streaming on MX player and comprises of 11 episodes. The web-series tells the tale of the life of Shakthi Seshadri from the age of 14 to 40 narrating her different life-changing experiences. From celebrating the success of Shakthi as the school topper to turning into the most sought after actress to the successful and youngest politician in the state, the perfectly written storyline of the web series is a tap on the back of writer Reshma Ghatala. The writing of ‘Queen’ is the strongest point with the perfectly selected cast delivering stellar performances. The story of ‘Queen’ is inspired by the novel penned down by Anita Sivakumaran with a similar title.

Queen streams in Hindi, Tamil and Bengali versions making it easy for the audiences to watch the show in a language of their choice. The web series gives you certain warmth watching a strong, free-spirited woman following her aspirations and fulfilling her dreams. Queen brings light to the story of the school topper Shakthi who is forced to quit studies, and pursue a career in acting. The story leaves you in a soft spot for the character of Shakthi as she faces the struggles of her life but rises like a star.

In Queen, Shakhti between 18 and 30 years of age is played by actress Anjana Jayaprakash who manages to charm us with her phenomenal acting skills. The actress manages to express the vulnerable side of her character well as she yearns for love and support after being the most successful one. While Anjana impresses us, actress Ramya Krishnan adds weight to the character with her beautiful portrayal of the budding politician. The dialogue delivery of Krishnan and her ability to connect to the viewer as a strong yet humble woman is quite impressive.

The characterization of actor-politician GMR is perfectly balanced in the web series, as he plays an important role. Portrayed as a manipulator and a person who makes choices from which he gets benefits - Actor Indrajith Sukumaran convincingly manages to grip the viewers with his portrayal of the role and is exceptional in terms of acting.

‘Queen’ is clearly winning our hearts and manages to maintain a perfect balance between the writing, and cast. The background score of the web series is the ‘cherry on the cake’ making it worth-watching.
