Sardar Udham Singh Review: Vicky Kaushal Starrer Is A Flawless Depiction Of A Historical Event
Shoojit Sircar's Directorial film Sardar Udham has just been released on Amazon Prime today. The film has been trending on social media ever since the release of the trailer and now today it's finally out. The film is based on a true event of Saheed Sardar Udham Singh's life. Vicky Kaushal is seen portraying Sardar Udham the central character. Apart from Vicky, the film also stars Banita Sandhu and Amol Parashar in important characters.

The film starts with the explaining of the horrifying event of the massacre of Jallianwala Bagh, continues with the jail scene where Sher Singh/ Sardar Udham aka Vicky Kaushal who was prisoned gets his bail. After his release, Sardar Udham maps his route to England for his most awaited revenge for the massacre that took place in Amritsar in 1919, for which Michael O'Dwyer was responsible. The film is all about the journey and the obstacles to which the great man succeeded, holding a fit of anger for more than 20 years and then concurring it by killing Michael O'Dwyer at  Caxton Hall.

No doubt the film is made with absolute hard work and with a great amount of study. Every scene of the film will take you back to the scenario and would make you visualize the moment. Director Shoojit Sircar has creatively brought up a very critical story onboard with an ample amount of sharped and crisped content which added a shine to the film. What doesn't work for the film is the length, the first half of the film is quite slow and could have been done with some editing. The length and the leisurely narrative make the first half tiring. However,  the second half picks up the phase and delivers some powerful scenes.

Coming to the dialogues, writer Ritesh Shah has very cleverly studied each and every moment related to this event and has penned suitable dialogues for this. Shantanu Moitra as the music director is the best choice the makers have done. The background score literally adds value to every dramatic situation, which gives goosebumps.

Speaking about performance, Vicky Kaushal as Sardar Udham is absolutely stunning, his performance as the central character is as crystal shine. Without any doubt, after late actor Irrfan Khan, Vicky Kaushal is the perfect artist the team could have for this role. His deliverance, magnetic performance is something to look forward to. Apart from Vicky, Amol Parashar as  Bhagat Singh has also nailed his performance. Banita Sandhu and Stephen Hogan have also done a great job in their respective characters.

Summing up in last words, the film holds a great story of a revolutionary star which every Indian should watch and be proud of Shaheed Sardar Udham. Sardar Udham is actually a masterpiece that Shoojit sircar has brought up to the audience.
