Ramadan 2020 will begin on April 23, a holy month just before celebrating the festival of Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of 30 day fasting period. As Ramadan is all to do with fasting and abstinence between 12 to 24 hours, we bring to you some of the guidelines that shall keep one charged and going, by keeping self-health in best of state and hydrated. First – Cereals, grains and bread- One needs to be charged to perform their day-to-day activities, hence inculcating cereals and grains in their meals is a must. Also when we talk about it, grains can include anything from wheat to rice to bajra, which helps to boost energy in your body. They are on high fibre and carbs too.
Second- Intake of protein-rich food- Including milk and milk products such as cheese, yoghurt. These food items not only keep one full of energy but also is light on the stomach. Helping to one in smooth digestion process for a month’s time, keeping the gut healthy.
Third- Fruit and Veggies- While grains and milk products are a must during the Ramadan period, fruits and veggies are also equally important for the body. Inculcating them in your diet protects ones’ body from within keeping it immune against any disease during the fasting period. Fourth- Meat and Fish- Considered as the highest source of protein, only if had in right proportions and cooked in a healthy manner. Choosing baking and grilling over frying helps one digest meat and fish easily during the Ramadan period. And lastly
Fifth- Fluids- Choosing water over any hot and cold beverage loaded with caffeine seems like a perfect option. For a simple reason, as water keeps the body more hydrated than any caffeine-based drink.
