World Ocean Day 2020: 5 Things You Can Do To Contribute In Saving Our Oceans
Every year for the development of oceans, June 8 is celebrated as World Ocean Day. The day was officially marked by the United Nation in 2008. The motive of celebrating this day is to create awareness among people for the the protection of marine life and oceans. It is celebrated in many ways like launching new campaigns and initiatives, special events at aquariums and zoos, beach cleanups, outdoor explanations, conservational action programs, art contests, seafood events etc.

On tbe occassion of World Ocean Day 2020, everyone should take initiative to save oceans as they are extremely important for our ecosystem and are essential part of our lives. Below are the things we can do to contribute in saving our oceans.

1- As the Global fish population is decreasing very rapidly because of high demand and unsustainable fishing practices. To stop this all we can do is to avoid overexploited species and choose sustainable seafood.

2- The second foremost thing is, plastics are damaging the oceans and killing marine life. For this, we can use reusable bags or water bottles to reduce the usage of harmful plastic packets and bags.

3- Along with all your water sports, you are also advised to take care of your beach and you should try to keep it clean as much as possible. And not to disturb any wildlife, by removing any rocks or coral.

4- You are advised to avoid purchasing items that destroy marine life, like coral jewellery, tortoiseshell hair accessories etc.

5- If you have a pet, then your pet’s diet plan can also have harmful effects on marine life. So, try to choose sustainable seafood for your pet.
