Sai Tamhankar worked with Sachin Kuṇḍalakar in ‘Vazandar’. ‘Vazandar’ was a film where Sai Tamhankar and Priya Bapat worked together in roles of best friends tackling weight loss issues. The societal stigma of heavy weighing girls, the unhealthy weight loss procedures, the body image issues on a psychological level and family support for a healthy lifestyle, are many such issues the film dealt with.
Being an award-winning Marathi film director and screenplay writer, he is known for his directorial work in ‘Nirop’, ‘Gandha’, and ‘Happy Journey’. He has won two National Film Awards, Best Feature Film in Marathi for ‘Nirop’ in 2007 and Best Screenplay ‘Gandha’ in 2008. Other notable films he has worked on are, ‘Out of the Box’, ‘Shubra Kaahi’, ‘Aiyyaa’, ‘Rajwade and Sons’ and ‘Gulabjaam’.
