After Sonu Nigam, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Calls Azaan ‘Dumb’
Sonu Nigam had to shave his head after ranting about Azaan on Twitter but that has not dissuaded Suchitra Krishnamoorthi who took to Twitter to complain about “imposed religiosity”
Actor-singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has stirred a hornet’s nest after taking to Twitter to rant about the practice of Azaan.
Shekhar Kapur’s ex-wife tweeted:
“Came home at 4.45 am 2 most aggressive/ ear shattering call of azaan. Nothing more lowlife & dumb than such extreme imposed religiosity (sic)”
Journalist Sagarika Ghose replied to the singer, tweeting: “While Hindoo celebs raise voice agnst Azaan, I remind dem its good to wakeup at BrahmaMuhurt acc to Hinduism. Azaan only helps to do so...(sic)”

Suchitra then replied, saying: “I wake up at Brahmamuhurt of my own accord & do my prayers & riyaz & yoga. I dont need public loudspeakers to remind me of my God or my duty (sic)”

Then Suchitra explained: “Nobody objects to azaan or prayers during decent hours. But to be wakung up entire neighbourhood at 5 am is not civilized (sic)”

The singer has already started receiving flak for her tweet.
Earlier this year, Sonu Nigam had to go bald after he ranted against Azaan on Twitter.
Soon a senior member of a minority council issued a fatwa against Sonu Nigam, saying: “If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person.”

Not the one to take the threat lightly, Sonu Nigam replied to it and said that he will shave his head in public and he did.
