As India gears up to host Justin Bieber in May for the first time, Kailash Kher disapproves of the organisers’ decision to rope in Sonakshi Sinha for a gig.

“It doesn’t give a good message internationally. They (people overseas) will think that Sonakshi must be a big singer in India. Then she will get concert offers, and then probably Sonakshi will laugh them off saying, ‘I am not a singer but an actor’,” Kailash said.

Now, the singer seems to have found support in Armaan Malik. “Agree with Kailash Kher sir! Actors are actors & singers are singers. Leave the stage & mic to us, that’s our playground not yours,” he posted along with a news article that said actor Sonakshi Sinha will be performing at the opening of Justin Bieber’s Mumbai concert.

Not the one to take things lying down, Sonakshi Sinha responded to Armaan’s statement and wrote, “A secure artist would always encourage another artist to grow their skills and follow their dreams. Art in any form should not be suppressed.”

She didn’t stop there. Sonakshi further questioned Armaan’s stance saying that what made him approach her if he was against actors turning singers. She stated, “And this is definitely not the same tune you were singing when you wanted me to sing for you.”

Armaan went on say that he feels that singers are sidelined as compared to actors. He wrote, “I agree with you Sonakshi.. but I voiced what I felt about how singers are shunned in our country & given lesser importance than actors!!”

Addressing the claim of offering a song to Sonakshi, Armaan said, “You are mistaking me for Amaal Malik he is the composer J”, to which she tweeted, “Of course I know Amaal is the composer but I clearly remember you both coming up to me after an event a while back asking to do a song together.”
