This morning, we told you that Papon will not shoot for the remaining two episodes of The Voice India Kids. Now, a while ago, the Humnava singer put out a post on Facebook stating that he will not be able to fulfil his professional duties as a judge.
The singer writes on Facebook: “Since I am in no mental state to fulfill most of my professional obligations, I have decided to step down as a judge on the show till the matter in which I have been falsely implicated is fully resolved and the investigations are over. I have full faith in the judicial system and eventually the truth will prevail. In the interim I would appreciate that my privacy is respected.”
For those who’ve come in late, a video on Papon's Facebook timeline showed him celebrating Holi with the contestants of The Voice India Kids, a show which the singer judges. He is seen applying gulal to one of the female contestants and then he kisses her, allegedly by force. The girl looks uncomfortable as Papon forcefully tries to kiss her on the lips.
Last evening, Papon in his defence wrote an open letter claiming that he feels blamed for no fault of his. While his lawyer Gaurang Kanth said on a TV channel that Papon "only gave a peck" and it was "his way of showing affection".
Meanwhile, the girl's parents have refused to lodge a complaint against Papon, and instead issued a statement that said the singer is "a mentor and a father figure to my daughter, and has always encouraged her to pursue her dreams... What you saw in the video is not intentional. It was just a moment of affection that is being portrayed otherwise".
