Well, we really don’t know what you mean Farhan? Forget the melody in the album now; it’s time we are questioning the originality of the songs of Farhan Akhtar’s latest film Rock On!! 2’s music album.
The entire album has left us stunned – in a bad way of course! Not a single song created the magic which the previous album did and here’s the latest song from Rock On!! 2 – You Know What I Mean, the video of which BTW will totally remind you of the famous soundtrack Sugar by the US band Maroon 5.
Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. ‘Sugar’ was released as the third single from the band on January 14 2015. A video of the group was released of them travelling around L.A. and performing at random weddings and received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
Rock On!! 2’s latest song also shows the entire band doing somewhat similar thing. They are seen singing at a wedding, and their attire is also similar to the Maroon 5 band.
What has happened to Farhan Akhtar we wonder?
Oh, before we forget, Rob (Luke Kenny) who dies in Rock On!! is seen in this song! The song actually looks like a re-union but it just fails to impress us. Obviously the fact that it bears such a resemblance to 'Sugar' made us overlook the entire ‘Rob re-union’ factor!
The lyrics-penned down by Javed Akhtar- are really out of place! It seems like a conversation and the tune is forced into it to make a song! It just doesn’t set the tempo. The music has been composed by Shankar Ehsaan and Loy who have some amazing work to their credit but have failed to deliver in this music film!
Rock On!! 2 is directed by Shujaat Saudagar, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. It stars Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Shraddha Kapoor , Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli and Shashank Arora.
