Kannada TV Actor Chethana Raj Passes Away After Complications In Fat Removal Surgery, Parents Claim Negligence Of Hospital Authorities

In a rather shocking turn of events, Kannada television actress Chethana Raj passed away on Monday following a fat removal surgery at a private hospital in Bengaluru. Chethana, 21, was a popular TV actor down south and she developed complications as fluid began to accumulate in her lungs after the surgery as alleged by her family, reported NDTV.
The actress passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where she was admitted on Monday, May 16, for ‘fat-free’ plastic surgery. She then breathed her last despite attempts to save her. Her parents accused the doctors of negligence and have lodged a complaint.
The popular TV actress was known for her roles in daily soaps such as Geetha and Doresani. She decided to get ‘fat-free’ plastic surgery on May 16, at Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre in Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Although, the surgery did not go as planned!
Anaesthetist Melvin, along with the doctors who performed the plastic surgery, brought Chethana to Kaade Hospital at 5.30 pm and threatened the doctors to treat her as she suffered a cardiac arrest, reported IndiaToday.
Kaade Hospital doctors immediately initiated the CPR, despite trying for 45 minutes, Chethana could not be revived.
ICU intensivist Dr Sandeep, in his complaint to the inspector of Basaveshwaranagar Police Station, had mentioned that Chethana was declared dead at 6.45 pm. He also mentioned that the doctors at Shetty's Cosmetic Centre were aware that Chethana had already passed away.
The IndiaToday report also mentioned that Chethana did not even inform her parents about the surgery. She reportedly visited the hospital with her friends. However, she developed complications which claimed her life.
Chethana’s uncle Rajappa in his interaction with IndiaToday elaborated of Chethana’s complications after the surgery and said, "She is my younger brother’s daughter and she was acting in Kannada TV serials. Somebody had told her to reduce weight as she appeared fat. So, she went to Shetty hospital to remove the excess fat. The hospital is not equipped with an ICU and the surgery was done. After the surgery, water accumulated in her lungs. Later, they shifted her to another hospital nearby where she was declared 'brought dead'."
