Veteran Malayalam Actor And Production Controller Kannan Pattambi Passes Away At 62 In Kozhikode

Veteran Malayalam actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi has passed away at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy in the film industry that spanned decades. Pattambi breathed his last on Sunday night in Kozhikode while receiving treatment for a kidney-related illness at a private hospital. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his elder brother, acclaimed filmmaker Major Ravi, who took to social media to share the details of his brother’s demise and funeral arrangements. 

According to Major Ravi, Pattambi died at around 11:40 p.m. The veteran’s funeral was scheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at the family residence in Njanganthiri, Pattambi, where friends, family and colleagues were expected to pay their respects. In his tribute, Major Ravi posted a photo of Kannan and informed fans and well-wishers of the time of death and ceremonial details in a heartfelt message. 

Kannan Pattambi had been a familiar face in the Malayalam cinema scene for many years, earning recognition not only for his acting skills but also for his work behind the scenes. He served as a production controller, a crucial role that involved managing the logistical and financial elements of filmmaking — work that earned him respect among peers. 

Over his career, he worked closely with his brother, Major Ravi, who is known for directing and producing films often rooted in real-life events. Among the notable projects they shared was Mission 90 Days, a movie based on Major Ravi’s own experiences during the investigation into the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. 

Kannan also contributed as part of the production team on several commercially successful films, including projects starring superstar Mohanlal such as Pulimurugan. His dual talent as an actor and production controller made him a respected and versatile figure in the Malayalam film fraternity.
