Veteran actor of the Malayalam industry, KTS Padannayil passed away on Thursday due to age related issues. He was 88. The actor was undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital in Kochi. According to the hospital spokesman, Padannayil breathed his last at 6:40 AM. Celebs, including fans and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid tribute to the veteran actor.
Born as Kochuparambil Thai Subramaniam Padannayil in 1933, he was one of the most prominent supporting actors in late 1990s in Malayalam movies. Also popularly known as Padanna, he began his career as a theatre artiste. He has acted in many stage plays. The veteran star performed at diffrent drama troupes like Jayabharath, Chengassery, Vaikom Malavika and more.
He made his acting debut with the Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava in 1995. He has acted in movies such as Vridhanmaare Sookshikkuka, Vaamanapuram Bus Route, Rekshadhikari Baiju Oppu, Adyathe Kanmani, and many others. Besides films, he also starred in comedy serials on TV and successfully created a mark for himself in the industry.
He is now survived by his wife Ramana, three sons, Syam, Sannan, Saljan and a daughter, Swapna. His last rites were held on Thursday evening, near Kochi. Post his demise, many of his fans took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor. One fan wrote, "Also, how old was this man when he acted in Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshathrathilakkam 23 years ago! #KTSPadannayil." Another wrote, "RIP #KTSPadannayil".
