The couple, who had been together for over 18 years, announced their separation on Monday night on social media. In a joint statement, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa said, “Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. We have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.” Ever since the news of their separation broke out, fans took to Twitter to extend their support to the estranged couple and requested everyone to respect their decision and privacy.

Both Dhanush and Aishwaryaa are trending on the microblogging site with netizens urging everyone to give them space. Many users also asked superstar Rajinikanth to stay strong.
